Garden State ELITE Coaching Staff

Bernadette Campbell is entering her third season with Garden State Elite.  She is a New Jersey native and a graduate of Cinnaminson High School.  After high school she went on to play at the College of New Jersey.  During her tenure at TCNJ the Lions compiled a 61 – 8 overall record, advanced to the DIII Final Four three times and won two Division III National Championships.  Her coaching experience includes stints at West Windsor Plainsboro North, T3 Lacrosse, Five Star Lacrosse and WWPC Lacrosse.  Bernadette is currently a teacher at South Hunterdon High School. 

 

Liz Cook joins the GSE coaching staff for the first time this summer. She grew up in Princeton, NJ playing high school lacrosse for Princeton Day School where she was a two-time High School All-American, 1st Team All Prep A selection, and 1990 Town Topics Player of the Year. She went on to play lacrosse for Brown University in addition to Field Hockey and Ice Hockey. She has been on the coaching staff at Princeton Day School since 1999, helping the Panthers Varsity Lacrosse teams to winning records in 12 straight seasons. For the past 5 years she has run the Princeton Lacrosse Club girls program, in addition to coaching the 5/6 youth teams

 

Kendal Borup grew up in Plainsboro, NJ.  She graduated from West Windsor Plainsboro South in 2011 and currently plays lacrosse at the College of New Jersey in Ewing.  This is her second summer on the GSE coaching staff.  Over four years at South she amassed 254 career points (139 goals, 115 assists).  In her senior season Kendal scored 111 points (61 goals, 50 assists) and was named the 2011 Colonial Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Year.  While with the Pirates Kendal was a four time All CVC player and named to the All Mercer County, All Packet and All Area teams as a junior and senior.  In 2011 she was also a New Jersey Senior All Star selection.  

 

Cory Easter played lacrosse at Princeton High School and club lacrosse at Denison University.  In addition to his duties with GSE he is currently the President of Lightning Lacrosse youth program in West Windsor.  Cory coached Lightning girls’ teams from 2004 through 2011.  He is a US Lacrosse Level II certified coach and this is his fourth summer coaching elite club lacrosse.  He founded and continues to run the Five Star Girls summer and WWPC Lacrosse fall programs which serve 500 central NJ youth and HS players.  Cory has been active on the Boards of the Bobby Campbell Lacrosse Foundation, the Jersey Girls Lacrosse Association, Central Jersey Youth Lacrosse League and the NJ South Chapter of US Lacrosse. 

 

Dianna Eberl is new to our staff this year.  She was a goalie with Moorestown High School (three year starter) and Rowan University.  At Rowan she was a four year starter with an incredible 75% save percentage.  In 2010-11 she was the Head Coach of the Varsity Girls Lacrosse team at Woodstown High School.  This year she will be on the coaching staff at Eastern High School in Marlton, NJ.  As an accomplished player and coach she was asked to speak at the 2012 US Lacrosse National Convention.  She has also coached at the NJ Senior All Star Game (2009, 2011) and at the Women’s Division National Tournament (2001) for NJ South Team 1.  Dianna will be working with our goalies this year alongside Bob Henderson.

 

Bryan Fisher is a graduate of West Windsor Plainsboro High School and Gettysburg College.  He founded Garden State Elite Lacrosse with Kerry Weigner in 2009.  Bryan is the Girls Varsity Lacrosse Head Coach at West Windsor Plainsboro South.  Since taking over the Pirate program in 2009 he has compiled a 43-14 record.   Under his tutelage WWP South’s Laxpower ranking has improved from #130 to #16 in 2011.  “Fish” was named Girls Lacrosse Coach of the Year by the Trentonian in 2009 and 2010.  He currently teaches history at South and also coaches soccer and basketball.  Bryan and his wife Cassandra are very proud of their two future laxers, McKenna and Reese.

 

Sheri Grondski is a Hamilton, NJ native who graduated from Nottingham High School.  She has been Head Coach of the Girls Varsity Lacrosse team at East Brunswick High School for the past four years.  Sheri was a club lacrosse player in high school who went on to play field hockey at University of Delaware and the College of New Jersey.  While at TCNJ she was named First Team All NJAC in her sophomore, junior and senior years.  Sheri was also named to the All Northeast Regional team and was Division III All Star as a senior. 

 

Bob Henderson enters his second season with GSE.  Bob is a US Lacrosse Level II certified coach and is known throughout NJ as one of the best goalie coaches in the game.  Many, many girls who played for Bob have gone on to successful college careers.  Coach Bob played at Stevens Institute in Hoboken where he was a three year starter and two year All Knickerbocker Conference honoree.  In 1979 he was the #5 ranked DII/DIII goalkeeper in the country.  Bob still holds records at Stevens for single season save percentage and career save percentage.   Bob has coached at the youth level since 2000 and at the elite HS level since 2007.  Over the years he has worked with South Jersey Select, Central Jersey Select, WWPC Lacrosse, Five Star Lacrosse and Lightning Lacrosse.  Bob has been selected to coach at various state and national All Star games including the 2011 Women’s Division National Tournament.  Bob is currently the Assistant Varsity Coach at West Windsor Plainsboro South.

 

Dan Johnsen is in his first year with Garden State Elite.  A Princeton University graduate, Dan learned the women’s game from New Jersey and National Lacrosse Hall of Famer, Chris Sailer. He has been the head girls’ lacrosse coach at the Princeton Charter School for the past nine years, and he has worked extensively with middle-school and high-school athletes.  An avid student of the game Dan has attended dozens of camps and coaching clinics over years in order to hone his craft.  Several of the players he has trained have gone on to play college lacrosse.

 

Gabby Moise first learned the game during her middle-school years at the Princeton Charter School.  A graduate of the Peddie School, she helped lead their girls’ lacrosse program to three seasons of at least 14 wins and three consecutive championship games, winning the Prep A state title her senior season.  She was an All-MAPL selection as a junior and earned the Coach’s Award as a senior.  Gabby currently is in her freshman season as a midfielder on the Duke University women’s lacrosse team.  She excels at teaching the basic skills and fundamentals of the game, and she has been training middle-school and high-school players for the past two years. 

 

Michelle Morris, a West Windsor native, joins our staff for the first time this year and will be working with our Little Turtles 2019/20 team.  She is a graduate of West Windsor Plainsboro South and is currently a freshman on the Duquesne University women’s lacrosse team.  In her senior campaign with the Pirates she scored 62 points (43 goals, 19 assists).  Over the course of her four year high school career she found the net 116 times.  Michelle was a multi-year All CVC, All County and All Area selection and was a New Jersey Senior All Star Selection. 

 

Leah Schraudenbach first picked up a lax stick at John Witherspoon Middle School in Princeton and played for JW, Princeton High School, Northwestern University, and the Lakeshore Lax club as a player/coach after college. She coached at New Trier High School in grad school and the Lightning Lacrosse youth program in West Windsor since 2001 where she ran the girls program for several years. Leah is a US Lacrosse Level II certified coach.  Along with her coaching responsibilities she’s currently a board member of Jersey Girls Lacrosse Association and an umpire with the Central Jersey #3 Girls Lacrosse Chapter.

 

Becky Sommi grew up in Radnor, PA where she played high school lacrosse with Princeton University Head Coach, Chris Sailer.  After a year with the UMass lacrosse team Becky transferred to Lafayette where she was a Division II National Champion.  Her Lafayette lacrosse team was inducted into the Lafayette Sports Hall of Fame in 2011.  She helped found the Montgomery girls’ youth program in 2004.  Becky is the Head Coach of the MYLC 7/8th Select team this year.  She coached at the elite level with Bob Henderson for several years with Central Jersey Select and many of Becky’s former players have gone on to play in college.   Becky is also a certified youth lacrosse umpire. 

 

Kaila Sommi
is currently a freshman at the University of Southern California in Pasadena, CA and is a member of the first recruiting class in school history.  She is a 2011 graduate of Montgomery High School where she was team captain in her junior and senior years.  In her four year high school career she accumulated 200 points.  Kaila was a Skyland All Conference player in 2009, 2010 and 2011.  In 2010 she was selected to play on the NJ South Women’s Division National Tournament team.
